Theresa May will resign. Things to keep in mind.

May 24th, 2019

On 23rd July, we will get a new Prime Minister. But here are some things to keep in mind:

The EU will not re-open the Withdrawal Agreement for anyone. What is in the WA is the final deal from the EU. No more negotiations. No PM will be able to change the parliamentary arithmetic. One of the reasons that Theresa May is resigning is because she can't get her deal through the Commons due to the range of views on what Brexit actually means for different MPs. The legal default is for the UK to leave the EU with no deal on 31st October unless the Withdrawal Agreement is ratified. However, Parliament has made clear several times that it does not support leaving the EU without a deal.
